Whoop Whoop - Summer Fun!

It's Summer! And that means living is awesome at the Waitaki Community Gardens.

There is so much going on... lots of new produce and veggie boxes starting to go out again - yummy, fresh, organic veggies that just make everyone feel good.

The gardens are looking magical - huge thanks to our team and our amazing volunteers. Speaking of volunteers, this time of year is a great time to get involved.

There's heaps to do at our weekly, Wednesday Working Bees and something for everyone.

This time of year, it's all hands to the pump. Oldies and younguns and everyone in between can have a job to enjoy and a good old chat or two while they're about it.

And if gardening's not really your thing but you still want to help - you can!

We've come up with a whole new way of volunteering - which includes behind the scenes.

You see - we believe community is about sharing knowledge as much as sharing resources.

Our new volunteering programme is like a knowledge-exchange. You can choose to volunteer in areas where you have expertise, or ask to be mentored by another volunteer to learn their expertise!

So volunteering at the Waitaki Community Gardens isn't just about gardening (although we really appreciate those that can and do), it's about community skills building.

Bottom line is that we're looking for community support across a full gamut of roles:

  • Gardening

  • Health & Safety

  • Maintenance

  • Food & Catering

  • Marketing & Comms

  • Administration

  • Sales and Reps

  • School's Helpers

  • And some one-off-project roles

To see all our ideas about how people could help, check out this link.

Who do you know that could help? Are you looking for a chance to do something different like share or learn new skills?

Now's a great time to get in touch, or just pop up and see us one Wednesday for a chat. We'd love to see you and welcome you to our little piece of paradise on the hill.

Hope to see you soon! Meantime, enjoy!
